Letter from Pastor Doug

Greetings from Pastor Doug.

I want to thank you for visiting the web site of New Bedford Evangelical Presbyterian Church.  I hope as you browse through this web site you get a "feel" for our church.  It would be our joy to share additional information with you.... please call us or email us and we will share some of the exciting things happening at New Bedford Church.

New Bedford Church has a rich history.  We were originally founded in 1800.  Yes, we are well over 200 years old!  In 1964 two Presbyterian churches located in New Bedford, about a 1/2 mile apart, had the vision to merge and formed our present church.  They also had the wisdom to depart from two old, run down, inadequate buildings and build a new facility at our present site.

While New Bedford has a rich and long history, we are also, in a sense, new.   In 2011 by close to a unanimous vote, we became part of the Evangelical Presbyterian Church.  As part of the EPC we uphold Scripture as God's Word in its entirety.

New Bedford Church averages about 180 people at our two worship services.  This size gives us the ability to still have a 'family" feel and at the same time offer ministries for all ages and life situations.  We have wonderful ministries for children, led by our Director of Childrens Ministry, Dawn Harris.  We also have a great ministry to our youth, led by Kyle Jones and Jocilyn Houk, our Directors of Youth Ministries.  We have a great Woman's Ministry, Men's Ministry, and Ministry to men and women in times of crisis and stress.  I invite you to go through this web site and discover more about these ministries.

We offer two worship services.  Both are rich in music and in God's Word.  We have a wonderful Worship Team that leads our Contemporary Service at 8:30 and a wonderful Choir and Bell Choir that add richness to our 10:40 service.  My goal, as the Pastor, is to teach and apply the Bible to our lives in this 21st century.

Again, I invite you to "check out" New Bedford Evangelical Presbyterian Church.

Faithfully Yours,

Doug Runyan
